Elaichi dena!
Yesterday , I was at the grocery shop to buy a few items.
There were two attendants/shop-keeper's to attend to us customers, Shop - keeper 1 and Shop-keeper 2.
Enter a fifteen year old teenager. Excitedly , he asked Shop - keeper 1 , "Uncle , 'Elaichi dena' in crisp Hindi. (Elaichi for those of you who may not know , is the Hindi ( a local Indian languge ) word for Green Cardamom.). Hearing that Shop-keeper 2 was very prompt in retrieving the packet of elaichi! A small packet of polythene , filled with fresh green elaichi.
On seeing the small packet filled with green cardamom , the boy exclaimed , "Ye nahi bhaiyya , uncle ko pata hai kya chahiye!", referring to Shop - keeper 1.
Uncle (Shopkeeper 1 ) 'very' confidently returned with some processed - elaichi , which to us looked like a flattened chocolate , or some kind of tobacco , take your pick!
A sheepish grin broke across Shop Keeper 2's face , while the rest of us had a good hearty laugh!

The animals save the day!
I generally drop by the chapel at St. Patrick's Cathedral whenever I pass by. It's just the perfect start to the day , spending time in solitude and meditation , being at peace and one with God.
However , the only down - side to making that daily visit , is the right turn I have to make to enter into the church premises. I had a small accident the other day , while trying to navigate that turn and got banged by a fellow rider, Ever since ,some phobia has set in and I am quite nervous every time I negotiate that turn !
Traffic is rather swift on that road , especially during work hours , and that unfortunately , or fortunately coincides with the period I take that road.
Anyway , so what I do is , I try to leave my home early . Even fifteen minutes make a difference !
Today was one of those days , where I was late ! So I decided I would skip the visit to the chapel .. and instead say my daily prayers at my office desk . God is omnipotent! Only thing I would be missing out on is the peaceful solitude the chapel lends to you.
Somewhere deep down though , I had a nagging feeling of guilt. I wanted to go ! I love going there and I feel a deep void when I don't ..
So I made a deal with God.. I said "Lord , I want to go to the chapel today ! I leave it to you to make it possible !"
The turn at the Police chowki , was rather crowded ..and I was feeling a little dejected I wouldn't be able to negotiate the turn in such traffic.. but just after I took the U- turn at the petrol pump to join the Empress Garden road , I heaved a sigh of relief ! I could see horses with their caretakers trotting along the side turf and they would be hitting the road soon , to cross to the other side. That for sure meant , traffic would be stalled for a brief time ! I was happy..all I said was " Lord , you are just wonderful !" and hurried along to miss being stalled myself..
I then happily turned into the church premises , as there was only one side of traffic to monitor ..and that made the job so easy!
I then went into pray ,and later told myself , if the road was too crowded I would go to the petrol pump and U-turn again rather than wading through one side of the road to the other through swift peak hour traffic!
I took the road outside church and looked to the right , and to my utter amazement , I saw a herd of buffaloes crossing from one side of the road to the other ! Again , it made crossing the road so manageable , as I only had to monitor one side of the road for brisk incoming traffic !
Again , it was the Lord who was protecting and guiding me and showing me how we just have to leave things to him and trust in him!
There are multiple ways the Lord works in small ways and big in my life, and more often than not I end up forgetting them..
I plan to capture these moments , so that for the times I am down .. I can scan through and see how the Lord is always around holding my hand !
